Minister says education city to lure investment

PESHAWAR: Speaker, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Asad Qaiser Tuesday said that the PTI-led provincial government has planned the establishment of an Education City in the proposed mega city near Karnal Sher Khan Interchange on the motorway.
This he stated while addressing a Post-Budget Policy Dialogue on "Federal Budget 2013-14" organized by Institute of Social and Policy Sciences (I-SAPS) in collaboration with Department of International Development (DFID) here in a local hotel.
The dialogue was attended also attended by members of provincial assembly Saleem Khan, Amna Sardar, Romana Jalil, Dina Hayat and Sardar Suren Singh. Member Provincial Assembly Meraj Hamayun and Senior journalist, Rahimullah Yusufzai also addressed event.

The Speaker, provincial assembly said that the establishment of the Education City will bring revolution and promote investment in education sector. He said that foreign and domestic investors are also keen to invest in the project. He said that the provincial government is making efforts for access to the site from all sides and a special Expressway will also link Swat with motorway through Karnal Sher Khan Interchange.
He said that all international universities will be provided free land in the city for which they had already talked to an international consultant while land in this regard has already been allocated.
Asad Qaiser said that the PTI government is focusing on its agenda for change and for this purpose has declared educational emergency and enhanced the budget of sector by 30%.He said that education is inevitable for development and they will not hesitate from going to any extent and ruled out any compromise in this regard.
He said that the provincial government has launched enrollment campaign for bringing improvement in enrollment in schools. He especially requested opinion makers and civil society to play their due role in this regard. He said that they are making efforts for creating such an environment where none of the child would remain deprived of education.
He said that in future the heads of all educational boards and higher education institutes will be selected through a search committee, comprising of technocrats and experts. - APP
