Biography

Rahman Bunairee is an award winning Journalist, poet and writer. Prior to joining Voice of America in WashingtonRahman Bunairee DC, Bunairee reported for Voice of America (VOA) in Pakistan port city Karachi. Bunairee also worked for a leading Pakistani Pashto TV channel AVT Khyber/Khyber News as a Station Manager and Deputy Director News. Bunairee also worked at Urdu weekly Roshan Pakistan. As a journalist, Bunairee has worked on issues related to international politics, terrorism, the Afghan war, human rights, women and development issues in the region. Buaniree’s passion for journalism put him and his family in danger on July 8, 2009 as local Taliban blown up the house of Rahman Bunairee, at Polaand, Buner district, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. The US broadcast BBG awarded him with the distinguished Burke Award for his excellent journalism.
  
Bunairee is currently based in Washington DC as an International Broadcaster in Deewa Radio,Voice of America (VOA). Bunairee has raised thought provoking issues in his signature weekly show ‘Washington to Khyber’-a special show for the FATA people.
 
Born in the picturesque Buner valley and educated in Pakistan’s largest city Karachi, Sher Rahman Bunairee carries a mix of wild rural and sophisticated urban life trends.
