DFID assures to fully support PTI initiative of SDPF

Peshawar: The DFID in Pakistan has assured the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to fully support the PTI led coalition government initiative of Strategic Development Partnership Framework (SDPF).
This assurance was given in a meeting by a delegation of DFID which called on the Chief Minister Parvez Khattak at the Pakhtunkhwa House Sunday evening.
Provincial Minister for Education Mohammad Atif, Additional Chief Secretaries, Khalid Parvez and Sahibzada Mohammad Saeed, Secretaries Elementary and Secondary Education, Health and PE&DD also participated in the meeting.

6.829m skilled workers registered for overseas employment

PESHAWAR: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has registered 6829765 professional, skilled and semi skilled workers of various cadres for overseas employment from 1971 to July this year.
BEOE, an attached department of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, registered 3217611 workers from Punjab, 546912 from Sindh, 1646973 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,
77007 from Balochistan, 412940 from Azad Kashmir, 6648 from Northern Areas and 313581 from Tribal Areas.

Two die as roof caves in

 

BANNU (INP): A mother and her daughter died and six other members of her family sustained injuries when the roof of their house collapsed because of heavy rain in Soordag area of Karak on Wednesday.
Police said the family was sleeping when all of a sudden the roof of the house caved in on them and the whole family was buried under the debris.
The rescue team and local people recovered two dead bodies and six injured from debris of the house.
The injured were shifted to DHQ hospital in Karak for treatment.

UNDP to extend, strengthening rule of law programme to other dists

PESHAWAR: Country Director, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Marc-Andre' Franche has said that the strengthening rule of law programme currently underway in Malakand Division will be extended to seven more districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He was addressing media workshop on 'Ethics of Reporting in Law and Justice Sector' here Thursday. The workshop was attended by a large number of journalists, Katrina Hussein participated as facilitator.
The project is assisting in promoting the rule of law through provision of support to the justice and security sectors in Malakand Division. The rule of law programme aims to improve and deepen on-going efforts to secure peace and stabilization through enhancing justice and sectarian processes.
After success in Malakand Division the project would be extended to four southern and three districts of Hazara Division. He said that rule of law is essential as it is pre-requisite for development in all sectors.
For this purpose, he said they are focusing on three areas, which also include the training of judiciary to bring improvement in the administering of justice. He said that in this connection they are working at both short and mid-term levels.
He said that under the programme, they are also for bringing improvement in prosecution and in this regard has established a modern Forensic laboratory in Swat. Similarly, he said that 25 women lawyers in Malakand Division have been imparted training and their studies are in final phases.
In Malakand Division, he said that the programme is working along with security forces, which is very crucial for rule of law. He said that they are also closely working with police for establishing community police and model police stations. - APP

PHYDO directed to improve power generation work

PESHAWAR: Senior Minister for Irrigation, Energy and Power Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao while taking notice of complaint lodged by the people of Chitral here Friday directed Managing Director PHYDO to improve power generation from Shishi Hydel Power House to the masses and that issue should be resolved at war footing.
The Minister while expressing concern over performance of O&M (Operation & Maintenance) company directed the Managing Director PHYDO to terminate the agreement with company if its performance is not satisfactory. - APP
