Pakistan-Afghanistan parliamentarians for boosting people to people contacts

PESHAWAR: Parliamentarians of Pakistan and Afghanistan on Wednesday agreed to take further mutual steps in promoting people to people contacts to boost bilateral friendship.
In a joint statement issued at the conclusion of 9th round of dialogue between the Parliamentarians of Pakistan and Afghanistan here, they said mutual contacts are important for creating proper atmosphere for enhancing cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
Parliamentarians from Pakistan and Afghanistan stressed that the proposed interactions between the people from both sides should include all segments of society including women, youth, businessmen, media, cultural and professional groups.

All KP zakat bodies disbanded over corruption charges

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zakat Council on Wednesday disbanded all the district and local zakat committees in the province over corruption charges. The decision to this effect was taken in the 11th meeting of zakat and ushr held in Peshawar. Chairman of the council, Ghulam Mohiuddin, presided over the meeting.

KP to launch strategic partnership programme

Govt aims to create two lakh new jobs

Peshawar : The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is all set to launch a Strategic Partnership Development Framework (SPDF) in the first week of next month which provides concrete programme for addressing basic problems of the people of the province in a comprehensive manner.
This was revealed in a meeting held at Pakhtunkhwa House in which the country level heads of almost all development partners of the province, international donors based in Pakistan including World Bank, USAID, Asian Development Bank, European Union, JIACA, GTZ etc actively participated.
Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Parvez and Chief Economist Shahab Ali Shah briefed the participants on the SPDF, the progress in its formulation, the goals set and the expectations attached to it.

IT transfer programme unveiled

PESHAWAR: Director Science and Technology Dr Javed Abbas Bangash has said that arrangements have been completed to extend science and technology to different parts of the province. This include fuel-run water pumps, soybean made items like soya milk, soya mate and cheese, fuel-run water filtration plant and fodder full of supplement for the livestock. Dr Javed said this while talking to a meeting regarding information technology transfer programme which was attended by experts of the research and teaching departments of the Agriculture University, Forest Department, PCSIR, Engineering University. He lauded the performance of the Directorate of Science and Technology and assured that more measures will be taken to boost IT in the province which will usher in economic progress of the province.

Smeda trains 3700 persons under PHRS

PESHAWAR: Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) under Pakhtunkhwa Hunarmand Rozgar Scheme (PHRS) has trained 3700 people for starting of their own businesses, said a press release issued here Tuesday.
The training sessions organised in this connection have been participated by women and men having skills in different trades. The training sessions have been held in approximately all districts.
Through the training the participants have been imparted useful training relating to initiating own business, marketing of products, accounting and the important role of entrepreneurship in economic development of the country. Smeda will continue providing business consultations to such people on permanent basis.
The training sessions were followed by seeking the opinion of participants regarding bringing further improvement in their professional capabilities to turn them into popular business personality of the future.
Furthermore, Smeda has also evolved a formal strategy in this regard and will continue the assistance and consultations with those getting loans under the scheme to help strengthen their entrepreneurial skills. - APP
