Doctors demand service structure, increase in salaries

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Doctors Associations (PDA) on Friday demanded from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government service structure for doctors and increasing the salaries of house job and trainee doctors.
Addressing a press conference at press club Provincial Doctors Association Chairman Dr Shah Sawar said that service structure for doctors was a need of the hour and warn to protest if it was not provided to doctors by the government.
He said that the salaries of the house job and trainee doctors compared to other provinces are low and demanded its increase.
He also demanded regularization of adhock and contract doctors service.
He said PDA has already established a task force for betterment of patients. He also demanded security for doctors. - APP

12m infected with hepatitis disease in Pakistan

PESHAWAR: In Pakistan, the prevalence of Hepatitis B stands at 2.6 per cent, while that of Hepatitis C at 4.8 per cent as currently, there are 12 million people infected with the disease in the country.
The main reasons for the spread of hepatitis are frequent use of therapeutic injections, re-use of syringes, blood transfusions with un screened blood, inappropriate sterilization practices and weak hospital waste management.

KMU declares MBBS final Prof 2012 results

PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar announced MBBS Final Professional Annual Examinations session 2012 results. A total of 908 students appeared in the final year professional MBBS examinations out of which 759 were declared successful. The overall passing percentage was 84 percent.

KMU symposium on hepatitis control and awareness

Peshawar: Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar being the largest and sole public sector medical university of the province, has been actively involved with the Associations of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) for the hepatitis control and awareness particularly in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Molvi JI Hospital admin directed to mend ways

PESHAWAR: Health Ministe Shaukat Yousafzai on Tuesday visited Molvi JI Memorial Hospital at Hashtnagri and expressed anguish over irregularities in different sections of the hospital.
Accompanied by Deputy Medical Superintendent Abdul Gul, the Minister inspected emergency ward, OPD, Medical Store, X-Ray room and Ultrasound sections of the hospital and directed the administration to immediately remove the irregularities.
He also inquired about health of patients with direction to the administration and doctors to provide best medical treatment facilities to them. Yousfzai directed the administration to suspend ward boy Noorullah after receiving numerous complaints against him by patients and their relatives.
Apart from it, he also directed for correction of Ultrasound record.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said PTI Govt was giving special focus on bringing reforms in health sector and efforts are being made to provide free emergency services to patients.
He said no compromise would be made on quality of service. - APP
