Senator Baz Muhammad appointed interim central general secretary

PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of ANP has decided the convening of a crucial meeting of the Central Election Commission of the party on September 7, at Bacha Khan Markaz at 11:00 A.M.
All provincial chairmen of the election commission, all former provincial presidents and former central secretary general, Ihsan Wayen would also be invited to the meeting.
The decision of convening the meeting of the Central Election Commission was taken in meeting held here chairman, Central Election Commission ANP, Senator Haji Mohammad Adeel in the chair.
Those who attended were included Senator Baz Mohammad Khan, ex. MNA Bushra Gohar, chairman, provincial election commission, Bashir Khan Matta, member, provincial election commission KP, Aimal Wali Khan, secretary general provincial election commission, Jamila Gilani, Saddruddin Marwat, Jaffar Shah Khan and Nimroz Khan.
The meeting will hold detailed discussion on the notification issued by party chief, Asfandyar Wali Khan and approved by the think-tank of the party regarding the implementation of new membership and holding of transparent and impartial intra-party polls.
The proposed meeting will also guide the provinces in making amendments in their respective constitutions in light of the central constitution to remove controversial clauses from their constitution.
Besides, it will also discuss the constitution of election commission at district, union council, branch and wards levels in the province and its implementation. Similarly, it will also present proposals on need for holding impartial and transparent polls for the promotion of membership forms for the growth of the party.
The meeting stressed party workers for making more efforts among women and non-Muslim Pakistanis regarding membership drive and also sent the message that notorious or those remained in illegal acts in past, should also be kept away from the new membership drive.
Meanwhile, Interim President of ANP and Chairman Central Election Commission Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel has appointed Senator Baz Muhammad Khan as member of Central Election Commission and Acting Central General Secretary of the party.
Prior to his new responsibilities Senator Baz Muhammad Khan served as Senior Vice President of ANP KP and Chairman Provincial Election Commission of the party.
Senator Zahid Khan has been appointed central Spokesman for the party by the interim President Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel.
It merits a mention here that Asfandyar Wali Khan in his capacity as President of the party three days back had dissolved all the organisational structure of the party at national and provincial levels in the country and appointed an eleven member committee to oversee the party elections to be held for different tiers.
The entire election process will complete by March 2014.
The ANP' s organizational structure dissolved in the light of the report of the committee constituted to probe the factors leading to party's dismal performance in the May elections.
President of Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan Saturday announced dissolution of the party organisations at all levels across the country in the light of a report of the fact finding committee.
Addressing a press conference in Wali Bagh, Charsadda, Asfandyar said the party would go through a massive reorganisation in the light of a fact-finding report on the May 11 elections in which ANP suffered a massive defeat.
The ANP chief announced that an interim committee has been formed until intra-party elections were held in February 2014.
He added that new office bearers would be elected through secret ballots.
The ANP chief said his party had accepted the results of the general elections despite rigging allegations for the sake of democracy. Wali further said that the ANP's election campaign was hampered by terrorism. - APP
